How To (Respectfully) Chase A Literary Agent

Continuing my series on agents and all that good stuff.

I seem to have got into a bit of a groove talking about how to think about approaching literary agents. Almost by accident. I never wanted this substack to be about the industry and how to get into it, mostly because there are a lot of resources already out there and there’s no point me doubling up with my very specific opinion. I guess, the experience I have from founding my own literary agency and when we were between assistants, reading all the submissions, has given me a bit of an insight into what is good practice, and what is just plain rude.
